Miracle is called an event attributed to divine intervention. 1 m. made not explainable by natural laws and that is attributed to supernatural intervention of divine origin.
Virgins who weep or bleed, women giving birth without losing virginity, visions of mystical masters, figures not break in a disaster and thousands of phenomena which nourish the faith of people who, otherwise, perhaps not to practice a religion.
Jesus ‘resurrected’ Lazarus, stepped over the waters, rose from the dead, rose to heaven… all this to justify the validity of his teachings, in brief Gospels in which are told more facts than teaching to an unbelieving world.
There are no miracles in the life of Buddha, there are signs, but no miracle birth. However there are 12,000 sutras, possibly greater wisdom writings that exist in the world; Perhaps so Siddharta fulfilled his promise to convey knowledge to all beings.
Why I do this comparison… not to show that Buddhism is superior to Christianity, but to reflect on this need for miracles and signs.
If we need them, it is because our faith is damaged and if the institution that supports it needs to promote them is because it has useful teaching to transmit.
One wonders why an all-powerful God need to break their mold, their archetypes, to achieve his followers to believe in him… isn’t it enough with the miracle of creation, with the wonders of nature?
He who need them is not, they are his followers, that in the absence of personal mystical experiences, require spectacular phenomena which confirm that they are not wasting time.
The goal of Buddhism, for example, is that humanity overcome suffering, so transmitted many teachings. The teaching about the impermanence of all things printed on man the ability to understand your environment and stop suffering losses, at the time that shows you the futility of being arrogant or ambitious. The noble eightfold path is a series of practical life application exercises to expand consciousness and gain wisdom. The real test of the Buddhist is not the miracle, is the improvement of his own life.
A friend, strong practitioner of Buddhism, told me that they do not spread their beliefs, the people asked to transmit them. He was born into a Christian family that, at the beginning, condemned his abandonment of faith. It was rejected and criticized for years, but at the end of the time, his parents asked him to teach them and converted to Buddhism. The miracle? Which he had transformed his life so that those who knew it wanted to achieve the same.
This happens also in other religions as the vedanta, where the transformation of the individual is the main objective.
Then we wonder of countries that may face disasters and even nuclear bombs without losing the sense of solidarity and coherence as a nation. Remember the stories during the tragedy of Fukushima?
Not asked to miracles to their religion, ask for real transformation.
We continually see this process where Christian sects recover Street, drug addicts and criminals often boys. The young man undergoes a major transformation to the “surrender to God or Jesus”, but at the time escapes and returns to his environment. This is because the transformation is not such. The change comes “from the outside”, of trust the destination to an entity spiritual external, Dios or Jesus. There is an inner change, result of profound reflections and searches. There is no real change because the individual is not motivated to find God in himself, because he insists that God is that man who is up there judging us.
No mistake, this result we have also seen in Buddhist sects, where, despite the teachings, the practitioner keeps putting “outside” your personal power.
Normally, in contact with Et’s, they manifest always the absence of God, whose presence characterize it as something typical of primitive civilisations such as ours, since the existence of the universe does not require creation. To understand the nature of life, he understands how all things arise.
But this kind of knowledge does not arise from the realization of experiments or a short-sighted science based on speculation. It comes from the real expansion of the consciousness.
The goal should be the dignity of life. I am a spirit uncreated, free, powerful and full of love. The so-called gods are beings like me who have adopted universal functions or have become demons. Venero only the union of all the Uncreated spirits that together form the unknowable great, the most high.
